~4RT~ Youth For Causes 2009

Welcome!

Hello everyone!! Feel a burning desire to do something for your community? You're at the right place now. Don't go away! Here's your chance to play a part in making these people's lives even better than before.

We are 4RT, a youth-based fund raising group from Nanyang Girls' High School, under the Youth for Causes 2009 initiative. We aim to raise funds for Very Special Arts Singapore (VSA Singapore), a Voluntary Welfare Organisation, through street sales and holding a concert.

VSA Singapore aims to provide people with disabilities with opportunities to access the arts for rehabilitation and social integration. It runs various programmes for people with disabilities, regardless of age. Through this project, it is hoped that public awareness regarding VSA Singapore will be raised. 4RT consists of two portions: street sale sessions and holding a concert. All proceeds will go to VSA Singapore.

Hello everyone,

We are nearing the end of our project, and great thanks and kudos to everyone who have helped out so far! We really appreciate your help.

For now, we have already confirmed our concert details - refer to "CONCERT" post below for more! We hope everyone will join us in this meaningful event.

How to help

So, how can you help? To participate in this meaningful cause, you can:

(i) Join our facebook group, 4RT '09 (link on left and @ about us), and invite all your friends to join the group!

(ii) Volunteer for the street sale sessions. We encourage most people to volunteer for this - a lot of manpower will be needed!

(iii) Volunteer at our concert - you can choose to be ushers, ticket collectors, or sell items outside the concert hall.

(iv) Donate, or buy our products and tickets, and try to get your friends to buy too! Visit our products page and refer to the concert post below now!

If you choose the options 2 and 3, CIP hours will be duly rewarded.

These are the dates, times and venues for our street donation sessions:

The meeting place for the street sale sessions at Orchard will be at scape youth park, which is opposite Orchard Cinileisure and right next to Somerset MRT station. For Choa Chu Kang, the meeting place will be at the MRT Station. All volunteers are strongly encouraged to wear school-based t-shirts so as to increase credibility and after all, the public is probably more willing to donate to a student :D

If you volunteer, CIP hours will be duly rewarded according to the number of hours that you helped out for! Such a good way to help the community and boost your learning experience at the same time, don't you think? :D

Concert Details

Our concert has been confirmed, details as follows:

Esperanza
[means hope in Spanish]

Date: 12th September 2009, Saturday
Time: 7.30pm
Venue: Nanyang Girls' High School Auditorium (2 Linden Drive)

Tickets are priced at an extremely cheap price of $10 each only!!

The concert will showcase various cool performances, such as:

VSA Beneficiaries [highlight of our show!] e.g. A girl with Down's Syndrome who plays the piano, and a visually-impaired man who plays the piano and sings
A piano and erhu duet [by professional adults]
Dance performances from Nanyang Chinese Dance and Modern Dance
Music band Your Bittersweet Addiction from Hwa Chong Institution
Drama performances [interesting comedies!]

All proceeds from the concert will go to VSA Singapore.

We strongly encourage all to come and join us in this meaningful event. You will get to enjoy a night of brilliant performances and do a kind deed at the same time. Also, you will get to learn more about the less fortunate and how they persevere and strive to do their best in everything they do.
